How Long Is Dental Implant Recovery?
Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. An implant involves a titanium post placed in the jawbone, which is then allowed to heal and graft onto the surrounding bone and tissue. After this, a connecting piece called an abutment is attached to the post. Finally, an artificial tooth/crown is secured, and you now have a new tooth that is indistinguishable from the rest.
Implant Recovery Time
An important factor to consider when it comes to dental implants is how much time you will need to recover. On average, it will take about 6 to 8 months for a person to fully recover from implant surgery. However, every person and case are different, so there are several variables that can affect recovery time:
How many teeth were extracted and implanted. If you had to have teeth extracted, this will lengthen your recovery time. Recovery will take longer the more teeth you have implanted.
If you need bone grafting. Missing teeth will cause the jawbone to deteriorate underneath the empty space. In this case, bone grafting is required before the implant can be placed and will take time to heal.
If the implants are able to adhere to your bone. After the implant is placed, it must fully integrate into the tissue around it, and this process may simply take longer for some people.
